Cover Art

I can keep prices low because you’re the one who chooses the stock photo(s) you want me to use. You know your characters best, after all. I have an account at DepositPhotos. Choose your images, I’ll buy them, you fill out a form to let me know what you’re looking for, and I create it for you. Simple!

A few things to keep in mind when choosing stock art:

  1. If you’re using more than one image, the angle of view should be the same. If one photo was taken from above and the other head-on, they won’t blend into the same image. Also, the lighting source needs to be from the same direction, or from the exact opposite direction, so I can flip the photo and it’ll be the same.
  2. Shifter books usually show the person (or people) and the animal. If you can find a single stock image with both, great. If not, you may need two images for your cover. Alternatively, you can use a tagline to clue your readers in (A werewolf ménage romance).
  3. Ideally, the text (title, author name, etc) should be more of a focal point than the image. Simple images are usually better than busy ones. If you fall in love with a busy one, I can add some shading to help smooth it out behind the text, but it’s usually better to find something simple from the start.

Pricing:

    • Design fee: $50 for one cover with ONE image, also includes two promo images (FB cover, IG timeline, etc).
    • You choose the image(s) you want me to use from depositphotos.com, and I’ll purchase it (or them).
    • Charges to incorporate more images into the cover will vary, depending on how finicky the cut-outs will be. Twenty to forty dollars extra per image is most common, but super-finicky cut-outs can be more. I will tell you the cost up-front, once I see your images.
    • Print covers: Add $30 to the ebook cost in most cases. If your stock photo will be particularly hard to incorporate into a coverflat, I’ll let you know before we start. This option includes a free blurb promo image.
    • Discounts are available for multiple books in the same series if I can create them all at the same time.

If you choose a single image, I can play with the zoom level, contrast, vibrance, etc to give it the right feel and appropriate drama, and then add the title and author name to make it look professional. You’ll receive the cover in four sizes (2000×3000, 600×900, 400×600, and 200×300) and two promo graphics of your choice (FB cover, IG timeline, FB ad, FB post, or teaser image with short text you provide). All of this for $50.

The best place to view my capabilities is my FB banner album, but below shows two examples of Facebook banners. The top example shows the entire image on the left, and gives an idea of what shows on mobile vs computer on the right. The important information is in the center (horizontally) and right (vertically) of a good fb banner, so it will show up on all media. You won’t see the image on the right, but it’s how I make sure everything relevant makes it onto all screen sizes. These examples used more than one image. The top (FB banner) used six images, the bottom (FB ad) used four images for the cover and one more for the ad. Each image adds to the cost. If you pick more than one image, it’s important the lighting be from a similar direction (or the opposite, so I can flip it), and that the camera angle is similar (head on, from above, from below, etc).  I can keep pricing low for this because you are picking the images and I’m putting them together. You know your characters best.

If you already have a cover and want me to create other graphics (teasers, banners, countdown images, blurb images, etc), contact me for more information and pricing. Easiest and fastest way is FB messenger, but email is fine.
